Overall objective of the project: "Development of technology for the construction of clean and energy efficient houses with composite filling timber frame" is: Increasing by the end of the project, the applicability of environmental technologies affecting the quality of the environment used in eco construction in the project area.

The overall objective will be fulfilled by the following specific objectives:

- Developing, by the end of the project, new technological solutions to increase the energy efficiency of single-family housing in the area of the project.

- Improving, by the end of the project, cooperation between Polish and Belarusian scientists in the field of environmental protection and energy conservation in the area of the project
- Promoting, by the end of the project, energy conservation attitudes and the environment protection in the border area.

The initiative taken by the Partners of the project by developing the concept of technological and technical design of the energy efficient and ecological building, preparing a model of its implementation and raising awareness on energy conservation and environmental protection, is to improve the conditions for using green technology in construction. Implementation of the objectives of the project is to contribute to the popularization of energy-efficient construction in the area of the project. The project partners aim to create a strong line of flow of information, which will affect continuous improvement of developed results. The main objective is the desired state, which is subject to execution to achieve specific objectives.

Proposed activities:

In view of the cross- boarder nature of the project, the partners involved are an indispensable element for achieving the planned activities. Adequate complementary measures have been set out to achieve these objectives of the project :

Task 1: Management and promotion of the project

For the purpose of implementing the project will be set up a Joint Project Team. The team will prepare conditions for the project, will ensure the proper implementation of planned activities and monitor the results. Meetings of the team members will take place at least once a month, and the ongoing contact will be by telephone or e-mails.

Task 2: Conducting laboratory research
This task involves detailed research program aimed at developing the concept of technological and technical design of the energy efficient and environmentally friendly building. The offer resulting from the project will present a broaden and modified material and technological solutions adapted to the conditions of Poland and Belarus. The main researches provided under the project will be conducted in the laboratory of the Institute of Construction of Higher State School of Pope John Paul II in Biala Podlaska (IB PSW), also the project provides conducting some elements of research in the Institute of Construction of National Technical University in Brest. Experts hired to conduct the research will be equally involved in the development of the concept established in the proposal. The following types of detailed research are expected to be conducted: - research on woody cores of hemp: woody cores of hemp measurements in the field of: the selection of length, weight, bulk density, moisture content, water absorption, drying characteristics, storage and transport - research on lime: in order to determine: consistency, workability , setting time, the connection with additives and admixtures (eg, pozzolana) - research on composite blend : it is estimated: the selection of amount of woody core of hemp, lime, water, additives and admixtures to obtain the optimum structure of the mixture (quantitative recipe of components), then checking the optimum time of mixing ingredients, consistency, alignment and any compacting of the mixture, setting time and water evaporation. The last element of that task will be research on the hardened composite, during which the following research will be performed - volume weight, density, compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, deformation, tests in conditions of average and extreme humidity, conductivity coefficient, absorption and resistance to frost. In the case of the planned project dried hemp stalks, cut into woody cores, will form a fill in the composite mix with lime, sand, water and other additives and admixtures that improve the physical and mechanical properties of this material. Only through a range of research activities outlined above, Partners are likely to meet the results established in the project. Existing equipment and apparatus which laboratory of IB PSW is equipped with, in particular: the strength press, blends, molds, Bock apparatus, Vicat apparatus, hygrometers, sieves, will be retrofitted with additional purchases. Participants involved in the project - the experts and staff hired to conduct research on the Polish and Belarusian side - have the necessary knowledge and experience in conducting research, have qualifications in the field of: construction, design, performance and expertise in construction materials in the wide notion of the In order to implement the project ,the necessary starting material was collected in the form of already published articles, technical data, methods of technological solutions. For the needs of the project Partners consulted with French association SEBTB - association of developers building houses with similar system supported by Commision Regles Professionelles de la Construction en chanvre, the French side submitted its own experience and valuable comments, which will be used during the investigation. In the project are conducted own researches on materials and technological solutions which are partly based on the experience of the French, but they show some developed solutions tailored to the Polish and Belarusian conditions (colder climatic zone, higher climate humidity ) with particular reference to costs of construction and operation. Therefore, the output composite material, consisting of: woody cores of hemp, lime, water and sand will be tested and a new aspect of the above components with admixtures and additives will be determined. Such studies have not been conducted in France.

Task 3: Organization of seminars

The project involves conducting four seminars - two in each of the Partners. In total, the seminars will be attended by 120 people - 60 on Polish and 60 on Belarusian side of the border. Information about the planned seminars in the form of invitations, will be sent via e-mail to interested audiences (i.e., including investors, entrepreneurs in the construction industry, local government) and published in newspapers in the area of the project. The participation will be determined by the order of applications. Topics which seminars will be devoted to concern "Applications of environmentally friendly and energy efficient materials and new technological solutions in the construction industry." It is planned to announce the introductory papers in each of the four session seminar, the project also provides for announcement and presentation at seminars papers made by other centers of science and research. Participants wishing to take part in seminars and submit their papers after their qualifying recited them. It is anticipated that the papers presented at the seminars will be published in reviewed publication in scientific notebooks. Participants delivering papers cover the costs of stay and travel. However, they are expected to be paid for preparation and delivery of papers. In addition, at the seminars will be presented the results of research conducted under this project, with the possibility of their future implementation and proposals for design, technology and realization solutions in construction. Seminars will be held in one-day cycle. The proper course of seminars will be supervised by appointed by the Partners Organizational Committee which shall consist of a project manager from the Polish side and the Deputy Head on the Belarusian side.

Task 4: Information meetings for farmers

Partners planned the organization of four information meetings for farmers in the border regions of the project (2 each of the Partners). The meetings are intended to show the benefits of the use of alternatives in agriculture. Cultivation of hemp for various reasons, abandoned in the project area, is just such an alternative. Coming back to cultivation of this plant is undoubtedly an opportunity for agriculture in the region. When growing hemp, we have the opportunity to fill kind of a niche arising from the fact that its cultivation in Europe is very limited. Therefore, it is not a competition for EU agriculture. Experts in information meetings will present requirements to be met in order to start cultivation of hemp in the area of support. Within this task is expected to draw up a brochure to inform farmers in the project area about the possibilities of growing hemp and other organic crops and the possibilities of their use. Key information will be obtained from the Institute of Natural Fibers in Poznan (IWN), and their development and adaptation to the requirements of the soil, fertilizing etc. will be worked out by a researcher of the Institute of Agriculture of State School of Higher Education in Biała Podlaska. Industrial hemp crop acreage is currently in Poland, about 900 ha (data of ARiUR).

 Task 5: Developing documentation of research

The results will be announced in the form of articles in technical journals and in reviewed, trilingual publication in circulation of 150 copies. The publication will be sent to the participants of seminars, local governments, developers, contractors and investors related to construction in the area of support. Publication is expected to contribute to the creation of scientific discourse as well as to popularize the subject of construction activities related to ecological, energy efficient construction and environmental protection.
