'Joint network for cooperation in the sphere of culture and social care in favour of the development of the cities located in the Polish -Ukrainian borderland'
Painting and digital photography was the theme of special workshops that the Municipal Office of Rzeszów organised for the charges of social care institutions from Poland and Ukraine. The event was held from 9-13 September and its objective was extending cooperation with the partner regions. Subsequently the diversity of Rzeszów, Kazimierz Dolny, Lublin and Kozłówka was the main inspiration for the participants of art workshops inspired by culture. The second event took place on 16-20 September. It was attended by the charges and guardians of social care institutions from Rzeszów and Lutsk.
'Coloured' workshops for the charges of social care
Workshops in painting and digital photography were the first event organised in the framework of the EU project 'Joint network for cooperation in the sphere of culture and social care in favour of the development of the cities located in the Polish -Ukrainian borderland'. A twenty-person group of participants in the event knew various techniques of painting and photography, and also went on an inspiring trip to the Bieszczady Mountains. The result of five-day workshops is works of art and photographic documentation of the landscape of Ustrzyki Górne. The charges and their guardians from a Nursing Home for Chronically and Mentally Ill Patients in Rzeszów and municipal social institutions of the city of Ivano-Frankivsk were invited to participate in the undertaking. The classes in painting and photography were conducted by the instructors from Rzeszów Nursing Home. The official end of the event was attended by, among others, the Deputy Mayor of the City of Rzeszów, Stanisław Sienko, the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Justyna Sokołowska, and the Director of Nursing Home for Chronically and Mentally Ill Patients, Lucyna Basta.
Cultural inspirations during workshops organised for social care
Art workshops inspired by culture were also organised in the framework of the project. The main organiser of the event was the Municipal Office of Rzeszów. The individuals employed in Bohaterów Westerplatte Nursing Home for Veterans in Rzeszów were responsible for conducting the workshops. In total, 20 people from Poland and Ukraine took part in the undertaking. The participants did not only attend classes in painting and fine arts. They also visited Rzeszów, Kazimierz Dolny, Lublin, Kozłówka and Nalęczów. During the tour, the group could see the wonderful works of Polish culture and monuments of the Renaissance period. The official end of the event was attended among others by: the Deputy Mayor of the City of Rzeszów, Stanisław Sienko, the Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Justyna Sokołowska, and the Director of Bohaterów Westerplatte Nursing Home for Veterans in Rzeszów, Emilia Koryl.
About the project
'Joint network for cooperation in the sphere of culture and social care in favour of the development of the cities located in the Polish -Ukrainian borderland' is the EU project, in which the Lead Partner is the city of Rzeszów, and the partner cities are Ivano-Frankivsk and Lutsk. The primary objective of the project is to create a network of cooperation in the scope of culture and social care of the engaged cities. It will increase the cultural activity of border areas, improve quality of life and influence the strengthening of social bonds. The project engages a variety of social and self-government institutions in international cooperation between Poland and Ukraine. Its effect will be amazing events, exciting riots of folk colours, combining modernity with Polish -Ukrainian borderland tradition. Theatre performances, exhibitions, training courses and artistic workshops, the festival of ‘Colours of the Borderland' - they are just a small part of the extensive plan that will be implemented over 2 years. And that's not the end as the undertaking also envisages improving the competence of local government employees who will take part in trainings and gain skills essential for carrying out joint Polish-Ukrainian activities. Future cross-border cooperation will also facilitate the exchange of information and experience between the partners.
