Conference and Visitor Centre Opening in Lviv


On May 27, 2014, in Lviv, a Conference and Visitor Centre Opening took place within the micro-project 1 "Assistance in establishment and strengthening cooperation between organizations and borderline self-governments in Ukraine and Poland". This micro-project is a part of the umbrella project № IPBU.03.02.00-76-820/12 "Integrated Promotion of Tourism Opportunities and Cultural-Historical Heritage of Lviv Region, Podkarpackie and Lublin Voivodeships",co-financed by CBC Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2007-2013.

During the conference, cross-border Visitor Centre was officially open and meeting partners (5 representatives of the Lviv regional branch of the Association of Cities of Ukraine and 5 representatives of "Wisłok" Association of the Communes) took place. The conference was also attended by the representatives of the Umbrella Project Lead partner (Lviv Tourism Board) and Lviv Branch Office of the CBC Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine 2007-2013.

The conference participants outlined, that the opening of cross-border Visitor Centre will provide an excellent opportunity for meetings of local self-governments representatives from Ukraine and Poland. It will be the place for discussing the most important issues of community development in the border region. The centre will help to create a positive image of the towns in Lviv Oblast and Podkarpackie Voivodeship, and help to establish new contacts and create conditions for effective integration and support of cross-border cooperation and exchange of experiences between municipalities, NGOs and businesses in Lviv Oblast and Podkarpackie Voivodeship.

The meeting of partners helped to form a common vision of the future cross-border Forum of Mayors (which is scheduled for 11-13 June 2014), the main topics of which will include tourism, culture, environment and local communities development as well as directions for further cooperation development within the umbrella project.
