Five new specialized rescue pumpers to protect Białowieża Forest



Official handover of five new specialized fire engines took place on 5 June in Hajnówka (Podlaskie voivodeship) during the Poviat Firefighters' Day. The cars were purchased within the project "Together we protect the Białowieża Forest". New rescue pumpers went to five communes: Czeremcha, Czyże, Dubicze Cerkiewne, Hajnówka and Narew. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Aliaksandr Bieriebienia - Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Białystok and Mr. Antoni Ostrowski - Voivodeship Commandant of the State Fire Service in Podlaskie Province.


Further results shall come in the shape of new fire engines also for the Belarusian partners and integrated system of protection of the population and environment within the cross-border region of the Białowieża Forest shall be developed by means of expanding cooperation between the Polish and Belarusian rescue services. Association of Local Governments of Euroregion of the Białowieża Forest acts as the lead partner of the project with responsibility for the grant contract value of 3942343,62 euro. The Belarusian partners of the project include Brest Regional Office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus and Grodno District Office of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus.
